One day at a time

5Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. 6Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:5-7

We lost an amazing woman Monday night. After battling Breast Cancer for 12 years, the Cancer won. She persevered through many surgerys, radiation treatments and countless Chemo appointments. She never gave up, always hoping that one day a cure would be found and set her free from this "monkey on her back". Unfortunately, that cure has not been found in her lifetime. I read somewhere that someday Cancer will be able to be treated as a "chronic disease". That's fine, but for those that suffer with Cancer, it becomes a full time job. Betsy's joy for life, her love for her family and her faith in her Savior was evident in everything she did. Her parents lost a loving and faithful daughter. Her husband lost a wife, lover and companion. Her son lost his mom, his greatest advocate and rock. Her sisters and brother lost a true helper, cheerleader and buddy. The world lost a person who never complained, always smiled and, had a kind word for everyone. She took every treatment knowing that it would give her more time with the people she loved, especially her son. It is tragic that her life has ended just at at a time when others her age are dreaming of the future. If I can do anything better because I knew her, I can try to keep her spirit alive by praying more, laughing more, complaining less and loving greatly.
